Adoption Info
Our adoption process is thorough, but not complicated. We guide you step by step, all the way until you welcome your new family member home – and beyond.
#Step 1: Pre-adoption questionnaire
The process starts with filling in our pre-adoption form. You can apply for a specific cat, or simply tell us about your lifestyle and what you’re looking for.
Please answer as honestly and in as much detail as possible – this helps us understand you better and recommend the rescued animal who would truly be the right match for your family.
#Step 2: Getting to know each other
Once we see a potential match, we arrange a phone call. This is a relaxed conversation where we talk through expectations, answer questions, and make sure everyone feels comfortable moving forward.
#Step 3: Home check
A home check follows and is carried out in person. This visit is done either by one of our organisation’s volunteers or by a trusted person who has been vetted and approved by us or our partners beforehand.
The home check is not an inspection and it is not about perfection – it simply helps us ensure that the environment is safe and suitable for the needs of the animal you wish to adopt, and gives us the opportunity to support you with practical advice.
#Step 4: Adoption & travel
If everything feels right on both sides, an adoption contract is signed. Your future companion is then booked for transport from Romania to your door, almost anywhere in the UK.
And then… your life together begins. 🧡🤍
Adoption doesn’t end on arrival day. We remain in contact with our adoptive families for the entire lifetime of our rescued animals.
Should questions, challenges, or difficult situations arise at any point, we are always here to offer guidance, advice, and support. Our goal is a lasting, happy bond – for both you and your companion.
Adoption is an act of love – and of responsibility. Our requirements exist to ensure that the animals we rescue with so much effort and care can enjoy long, happy lives in safe and loving homes.
Our cats are adopted as indoor-only pets or into homes with secure outdoor access (such as a catio or fully cat-proofed garden). For their safety, free roaming is not permitted.
Balconies and windows must be properly secured to prevent falls or escapes.
With few exceptions, our cats are not adopted as single pets. Most need a feline companion in their new home or should be adopted together with a friend. Cats who prefer to be the only pet will be clearly identified in their description.
Indoor cats require thoughtful enrichment, including climbing shelves, cat trees, comfortable resting places, stimulating toys, and regular playtime and interaction.
Time, patience, and understanding are essential, especially during the settling-in period after transport. Adopters must be prepared to invest the necessary effort to help their new family member adjust and thrive.
The transition into a new home can take time. New smells, new people, a new space – it’s a lot to process. But the trust they build, and the love you see in their eyes, make every bit of effort worthwhile.
We require all adopters to inform themselves about feline nutrition before adoption. We expect our rescued animals to be fed species-appropriate, high-quality food, as proper nutrition is essential for their long-term health and overall wellbeing.
We are always happy to support adopters with advice and recommendations, and extensive guidelines will be made available on this important topic.
You don’t have to do this alone – that’s what we’re here for.
Our team has extensive experience in matching the right cat with the right family. While it’s true that some animals may behave somewhat differently in a home than they do in a shelter or foster environment, this change is often positive once they feel safe and loved.
If difficulties arise, we are here to help and will work together with you to find the best possible solution.
Should an adoption truly not work out, the animal can always return to our care, where we will continue the search for their forever family.
All of our animals receive thorough veterinary care and are tested for common, species-specific diseases.
Any known medical conditions are always disclosed openly before adoption, and we are happy to discuss ongoing care, treatment, or special needs with you in detail.
Please remember that adopting a cat also comes with significant financial responsibility, and veterinary care can be costly.
Every animal should see a veterinarian at least once a year for a general health check. Regular flea and worm prevention, vaccinations, and preventive blood tests are essential to keeping them healthy – just as routine healthcare is for humans.
We strongly recommend arranging pet insurance for your adopted companion or setting aside dedicated savings to ensure they can always receive the care they need.
Yes – An adoption donation applies. This contributes towards the cost of safely preparing and transporting our rescued animals to their new homes in the UK.
This donation is not a purchase price for an animal. It is a contribution towards the considerable expenses involved in rescue work and international transport. Before reaching you, every cat has already received veterinary care, vaccinations, testing, parasite treatments, neutering, quality nutrition, safe shelter, and daily hands-on care – often for many months or even years.
While the donation primarily helps cover transport and travel arrangements, it represents only a small fraction of the actual costs we incur for each rescued life.
The adoption donation is:
£295 per cat (£320 for Scotland)
£550 for two cats adopted together (£600 for Scotland)
All our cats and kittens travel vaccinated (PCH + rabies), neutered, treated for fleas and worms, tested for FIV/FeLV, microchipped, and with a pet passport documenting all treatments.
Before arrival in the UK, the microchip must be registered with PETtrac (approx. £11, payable by the adopter).
Any additional support towards our rescue work is always deeply appreciated, as it enables us to continue saving the next life waiting for help.
When you adopt from us, you are not simply welcoming a cat into your home – you are continuing a rescue story that began far away and now finds its safe ending with you.
You are giving safety where there was uncertainty. Stability where there was survival. Love where there was once abandonment.
And in doing so, you make it possible for us to help the next one.
If you feel ready to open your home and your heart, we would be truly delighted to walk this journey with you. 🧡🤍
