Poppy

About Me

Poppy is a very special girl. One of the most special babies we ever had.

We have been through a lot with her and for her and she has progressed and healed of physical and emotional trauma marvellously.

When she first came to us, Poppy had been cruelly dumped on the street by a person that initially took her in after most likely having been hit by a car, accident that left her with a broken tail and incontinent. But when her promised adoption fell through, that person put her back out on the street to fend for herself in that condition!

Although she desperately needed it, Poppy’s bladder and bowels were not manually emptied daily, she was just wearing a diaper to collect whatever was overflowing out of her.

When we got her, she was in a critical state, with a terrible infection in her bum area, full of sores and infested with maggots, she had a bad bladder and kidney infection and fecaloma was fused to her bowels because she needed help with expressing her bladder and emptiying her bowels, help which she never got. Skinny and neglected.

Several vet trips later, enema under sedation, infusions, long courses of treatment, and tail amputation which was necessary, our Poppy is now a completely different cat.

She has gained weight and her fur is fluffy, her bloodwork is good now and she is getting from us the daily help she needs.

What she does need now to make her really happy is a family of her own. As much as we love her, our shelter is not a home and our attention is divided in too many parts.

Poppy’s maintenance routine is not difficult. Her bladder and bowels are emptied with a massage as seen in the first video (we will explain in detail to any potential adopter) and she takes supplements for bladder and kidney health, just to make sure she keeps well.

She is a sweet and super loving girl that shows us every day how grateful she is for not having been abandoned by everyone. She is chatty, she asks for attention, she loves her humans and we want to find the humans to love her in return as much as she deserves.

If you are that special person that wants to make this special girl forget all about the horrible past she experienced, please get in touch to talk about Poppy.

Poppy will come home fully vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV / Felv and health checked.
