For almost a decade, Rex survived alone in a public park. Scorching summers, freezing winters, aching eyes, and an empty bellyāhe faced it all with quiet resilience. Despite being the friendliest soul, no one ever stopped to take him home. He got scraps here and there, but what he truly needed was love.Ā
That all changed when we met him.Rex came to us to be neutered, but when we saw his sad, leaking eyes and gentle, hopeful face, we knew he deserved so much more than being sent back to the streets. A vet check revealed entropion, a painful condition where his eyelids curled inward, constantly scratching and irritating his eyes. No wonder heād suffered for years.
He was also found to be FIV positiveāa common result for unneutered males forced to fight for survival. But we saw none of that toughness in him. Just a big, soft-hearted boy who wanted someone to care.We got him the eye surgeries he needed (one eye needed a second intervention), gave him a full dental and removed some bad teeth, ran full blood tests, and pampered him with more love than he’d likely ever known. And what did Rex do?
He bloomed.Ā This gentle giant is now the happiest loaf of a cat you’ll meet. He adores being pampered, belly-up in the fluffiest beds, purring like an engine, enjoying every second of being safe and loved. Heās obsessed with wet food, gentle hands, and sweet words whispered to him at bedtime. He is often found observing birds from the cat tree by the window or silently judging all that’s going on from the top of the wall furniture.Ā
Rex is living for chin rubs and soft whispers of āgood boy.ā He even has the funniest way of showing excitementāhe literally wags his tail like a dog, wiggling his whole bottom with joy!Ā Ā FIV might scare some people, but here’s the truth: Rex just needs what all cats needāgood food, indoor safety, love, and regular vet checks. He can even live peacefully with other cats (FIV or not!), because he’s not a fighterāhe’s a cuddlebug. Heād likely do well with cat-friendly dogs too, as long as they respect his mellow vibe.
Now Rex is waiting. Heās clean, healed, lovedābut still homeless.
He deserves someone who sees the treasure he is.
If your heart has room for the softest boy who has waited far too long for happiness, Rex is ready. Heās all heart, and heāll return your love a thousandfold.Ā Rex is available for adoption in an indoor-only home (a secured garden/catio is a big plus!).
Ā Estimated age: 8+ years, FIV+, neutered, healthy, affectionate
Ā Can live with other non-dominant cats or cat-friendly dogs
